About This Weather Station
The station is powered by an Ambient Weather WS-5000 weather station. The data is collected every 5 seconds and the site is updated every minute. This site and its data is collected using AmbientWeather.net. The station is comprised of an ultrasonic anemometer with a thermo-hydro, solar and UV sensors package mounted five feet above the peak of the cupola at Pinnacle Ranch for highest accuracy possible.
Additionally, the station has an 8-inch rain gauge mounted on the roof, and a lightning sensor. The site also has several webcams that regularly post pictures of the ever-changing weather and environs to this site.
About San Gregorio & Pinnacle Ranch
San Gregorio is a small unincorporated community in San Mateo County, California, with a population of about 300 people. It is located on the Pacific Ocean about 30 miles south of San Francisco, 15 miles south of Half Moon Bay, and five miles north of Pescadero. The rural town is primarily agricultural, with numerous farms and ranches. The center of town is at the intersection of Highway 84 (Woodside/La Honda Road) and Stage Road, with the San Gregorio General Store and post office.
Pinnacle Ranch is located on Stage Road, the old stagecoach route from Half Moon Bay, and the primary North-South corridor before construction of this segment of the coast highway (Highway 1) after World War II. The house sits on the peak of a hill halfway between San Gregorio and Pescadero, overlooking rolling hills and the ocean about a half mile away.
About CalifCoast.net
This website, CalifCoast.net, was established in 2001 to provide weather information and webcam views of the area. The original weather station was one by Texas Weather Instruments, which served well for many years. After its sensors died several times, and the company was no longer around to support it, the weather station was dormant for several years. In 2021, a new Ambient Weather station, and this new website design, were implemented, and now includes webcam images from additional cameras.
